Review of The Little Mermaid

Creating innovative, award-winning books for children from 0-8 years that promote learning through play. My daughter likes to pretend she is a mermaid. She talks in a high pitched voice so I always know when she ‘changes’ into a mermaid. It is super adorable and sometimes it even helps her take a bath! While I am just getting used to her being into princes and mermaids, I do not want her to be completely encompassed in the fairytale land of the ‘you-know-who’ princesses. After all, these traditional tales are part of many cultures and being retold in story form is great for Brooke while honoring the story tradition. Child’s Play Flip-Up Fairy Tale series includes a huge selection of fairy tale books that include flip-up flaps, which my daughter just loves. We love to have lots of fun discussions of what it means to be a mermaid and a mermaid ‘princess’ and this was a really great way to have fun fantasy discussions with her. The book comes with a CD to Brooke’s delight and she liked following along and being able to turn the pages as she heard the bell.
Check it out! The 40th year anniversary edition of the original book the Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly is available through the Child’s Play website.
